Coleen Mastrianni - Third Grade ESL Teacher
My name is Coleen Mastrianni, and I was born in Key West, Florida and have been on the move ever since. My father worked for the government and we moved around every two to three years. I went to college at the University of Georgia and finished at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I have been in teaching for 26 years and have taught 3rd, 4th, and sixth grades. I have also taught special education. I am National Board certified and have been a full release mentor for new teachers for 6 years. I am very involved in my school and work for making sure that all students meet their potential at school.
Mirna A. Salazar - Third Grade Bilingual Teacher
My name is Mirna A. Salazar, and I teach third grade bilingual. I was born in El Paso, Texas, and my native language is Spanish. Both of my parents are from Mexico. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and am the first person in my family to have graduated from college. After graduating with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Education, I served as an early literacy tutor for a program called ACE: A Community for Education for 3 years here at Walnut Creek. I enjoyed working with great teachers and students that I decided to become a classroom teacher. I received my teacher certification through Region 13 and began working as a teacher right away. This will be my second year as a classroom teacher here at Walnut Creek. I enjoy teaching, especially because I have the opportunity to see how much students grow throughout the school year.
Barry Barton - Third Grade Bilingual Teacher
My name is Barry Luke Barton. I was born in Sterling, Illinois and grew up on a family farm. I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I was in restaurant management for 20 years before I became a teacher. This will be my 8th year here at Walnut Creek. Besides third grade, I have taught fourth, fifth and served as an Instructional Coach. I am always involved with our scholars during the Science Fair, and attend the Regional Science Festival with them every February.
Jon David E. Saucedo - Third Grade Bilingual Teacher
I was born and raised in Mercedes, Texas, which is in the Rio Grande Valley. I graduated from Corpus Christi Minor Seminary in Corpus Christi, Texas. I also attended the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Philosophy. I have been teaching for 13 years. Prior to being a teacher, I worked in Banking and Real Estate. I belong to St. William’s Catholic Church in Round Rock.
Nací en Mercedes, Texas, un pueblo pequeño ubicado en el Valle Río Grande. Estudié mi preparatoria en el Seminario Menor de Corpus Christi en Corpus Christi, Texas. Asistí a la Universidad de Dallas en Irving, Texas y recibí mi título universitario en Historia y Filosofía de la Universidad de Texas en Austin. He sido Maestro por los últimos 13 años. Antes de recibir mi licenciatura como Maestro, trabajé en la industria bancaria con hipotecas y en la industria de bienes raíces.
