Good afternoon Walnut Creek families,

Thank you so much for all your support and entrusting us with your children on the first week of school! As busy as we have been with registration, we continue ensuring our students experience a great start to their school year. Here are a couple of items and reminders to consider for more efficiency moving forward with week two and the remainder of the school year…

Arrival

7:00am-7:40am. Instruction begins at 7:40am. Students are considered tardy after 7:40am.
Curbside drop-off is the most efficient way to drop off your child. Please stay in your vehicle and you will be supported with getting your child out of the vehicle. If you prefer to park and walk your child to the entrance, that is another option.

Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast is free and served from 7:00am-7:40am. Lunch is also free and served during the class’ assigned lunch time.
Please ensure your child brings a water bottle every day. If you can label it with your child’s first name and grade level, this will help us find the owner of any missing water bottles.

Supplies

We are happy to offer families the school supplies their child will need this year. If your child’s teacher needs particular school supplies, they will request those on Class Dojo.

Dismissal

At Walnut Creek, we have Walkers/Parents that want to park and pick up their child at the side entrance from 3:10 pm-3:30 pm. If you plan to stay in your vehicle and pick up your child at curbside, please remain in your vehicle. All students whose parents arrive after 3:30 pm must pick up their child from the front entrance. PLEASE let your child’s teacher know how we should plan to dismiss your child via curbside, bus rider, or to the after-school care provider, Boys and Girls Club.
If your child is a bus rider, they must ride the bus, unless the teacher was notified ahead of time. Unfortunately, we will not allow parents to pick a child from their bus line. They will need to ride the bus and parents will pick up their child from their designated bus stop. This is for our students’ safety.

After-school care

Boys and Girls Club: Held in the outside portable. Please have their contact number handy for pickup location. Our office staff will not be available to assist with this after 3:30pm.
Walnut Creek staff are not available to assist in child care after the dismissal time of 3:30pm. Please be prompt to pick up your child from 3:10 pm to 3:30 pm.

Class Dojo

We are upgrading the way we communicate with our Walnut Creek families! Please download the Class Dojo app on your phone to remain more connected with your child’s teacher and school. Ask your child’s teacher for your child’s code and stay connected with updates and information that goes out to our families.

Wednesday Folders

Please check your child’s backpack on Wednesdays with flyers, forms, and for any documents that go out to our families. This will be the way we send forms that will need to get signed, picture forms, and any announcements or events in paper format.
